Me and two work colleges at training for school photography earlier this year in Sydney. 

I’ve been trying to revamp my website and as I lay here in my motel bed west of Tamworth I have my laptop updating my website and I’m here on my phone writing this blog…..its 8pm…..what has this crazy internet obsessed world turned me into?!?! Ah well, these are the things you have to do to run a business these days. It’s not good enough for someone to just give you a call and book in. No one calls! It’s all Facebook, messenger, email, text, Instagram message…whoa it’s had to keep track of who messaged from where sometimes.

This year I’ll try to blog more, keep my website up to date and of course Facebook…..but if you see me falling behind its only because I’m working on the job that this happens, and to me, that’s the most important part!

I called on some gorgeous local Evans Head girls to help me out
I had another local Evans Head MUHA Leanne Hinton of Fresh Image was willing to do hair and makeup for one of my shoots.
I also had Kim Forsyth of Hair and Beauty by the Beach help out with a spray tan.
And these ladies are why I love living in a small town, local business helping other local business.

I’ve been wanting to do a winter sun shoot for ages. Finally I found the perfect wooly jumper and the most amazing girl to model for me so it was on!

So all I had to do now was contact my beautician Mel to try lock in a time to get this show on the road.
Finally between the three of us we worked out a time that we could all see working.

And it was perfect, my model Mateeka had never modelled before but she was a total natural! From the first shot I new I was going to achieve what I imagined and more!

I decided to split the shoot into two styles, Winter Sun Goddess and a more grunge type theme.
I changed Mateekas outfit, messed her hair and re applied some more theme appropriate makeup to complete the look. She transformed from one look to another seamlessly!

The shoot was a total success, I love every frame!

As you can see Rachel my model is a real natural beauty that just radiates happiness from within. She is so easy to work with, happy, keen and very talented!

In under half an hour I can get some real cute, fun and amazing photos. These kids are just perfect, I chased them down the beach then back up over the dunes to a beautiful greenery filled location to achieve some lovely photos for their mum!
The young lady below is 15yrs old and just so comfortable behind the camera. From the first photo I knew this shoot would be just too easy, she is a real natural beauty. Every frame was perfect.

Most of my photo shoot go for 1hr and we can move to various locations. These shoots were under 1/2hr but I was still able to get the shots the client was after and more. I really do love photographing families. Knowing that these photo could be up in someone walk one day really does give me a sense of pride.

And the girls…. Well you could have more fun on a shoot than getting four teenage girls together, taking them down the beach for some fun, relaxed photos. All of these girls were a blast to work with. Really down to earth, happy, smiling girls. It makes my job so much easier when the subject/s in the photo are happy, and these girls were just giggle pots!!

I asked my fav girl to shoot if she would be keen to get involved, the answer was a big YES! We ended up inviting another one of our friends, asking if she would like to be in on it as well….. Another YES!

So the day came, after all the planning, schedule changes and organisation of the props and makeup the weather was atrocious! It was wet, windy, raining and cold…..in summer. I Decided it had to go ahead, now or never!

We headed of down the beach, I did their makeup, picked out the clothes then braved the miserable weather to achieve some amazing photos!

The girls were sobering and shaking in the cold but soldiered on like real troopers as keen to get some stunning photos as I was.
I had worked with both of these girls before. They are both Evans Head locals so this is why I decided to make this an as local as possible shoot.
The shoot took place at the beach in Evans Head, then off to the boat ramp in Evans Head. I did the makeup, hair, styling, photography and editing.

I got the girls in up to their necks at the boat ramp as the fishermen watched with fascinated looks on their faces.

Then it happened, I got the shot. The shot that I wanted. As soon as my finger left the shutter button I knew….all the hard work and effort had paid off. The shot turned out just like I had envisioned….

Since then I have had the pleasure of my images being printed in an Australian wide magazine, Like A Lion. They chose to print my two favourite images from the shoot.
This is the second time I have had my work printed, and I think it looks quite good printed on the glossy pages of a magazine!!

Mel from Bronzed And Beautiful and I have done another collaboration photo shoot this time gorgeous Thea was dressed an enchanting Angel.
The shoot took place at the beach in sunny Evans Head and was a stunning backdrop for the blonde beauty.

From start to finish this shoot was a massive effort by all at taking 6hrs! But it was worth it. I love these photos.
We went through several outfit changes, locations and styles all in the one shoot. We went from a soft vintage angelic Thea to a set corseted angel fallen from grace.

Lucky we had Theas wonderful boyfriend there as he ended up being a helpful asset on set in regards to taking some if the load from one end of the beach to the other, and with such patience and manners!

There were so many different outfits, different locations, the model Emma was just so versatile. Mel did such an amazing job an the makeup, styling and the outfits! The shoot need up being more like 3 shoots in one. The red riding hood, circus meets Alice in wonderland and then the sexy lingerie at the end.

I love the way they all turned out, we shot until there was no light left!

So it was an early 6:15am start this morning to get the the beautician in the freezing winters cold!
Of course we had a ball with the amazing Mel from Bronzed and Beautiful in her studio. I was after a grungy, sexy dark eye and red lips that popped, and that’s what I got!!

My gorgeous model Cheyanne was such a trooper wearing skimpy clothes in winter. She pulled it off so well and the photos are amazing. A real team effort and collaboration from myself, our makeup artist and the model.
All done and dusted buy 9:30am and total edit done by lunch, that’s a very productive day, no time to waste!!

So I set up my studio today for some fun and experimentation. I don’t shoot in the studio very often as much prefer natural light and unlimited variations on the background.

I had three lovely ladies lined up to model for me today.
The first shoot was a 24yo gorgeous young lady. We wanted to playground with trying out some partial nudity in tasteful black and white.
The second was a confident country girl happy to give anything a crack. We just kept shooting and I got some awesome shots of her.
The third girl is a very practiced op shopper. We did a vintage inspired shoot with flowing lace, fun colours, and just a touch of boho.

It was the perfect day for studio work as the weather here in Evans Head was absolutely appalling with thrashing winds and poring rain.
